1. Sumitomo to Invest US$1.2B in Chilean Copper Mine
The Japanese metal giant will own a 45% stake in the mine that had around 1.3 billion tons of recoverable reserves. Production is expected to commence in 2014 with a project development cost of US$2.9 billion.
2. CITIC to Buy Gold One for US$469M
China's biggest state-owned firm offered 28% more than the closing price last Friday. Gold One operates the Modder East mine in South Africa and also has projects in Mozambique and Namibia.
3. Singapore Apr Exports Fall 1.8% on Year
The non-oil exports were down from a revised 9.9% gain in Mar. Electronics shipments declined by 10% from a year earlier, compared with a 14% drop in the previous month.
4. Asia Stocks Decline 1.4%
The MSCI Asia Pacific Index dropped to 134.25 as of Tokyo late afternoon on concern over Greece’s debt. Hong Kong Hang Seng Index fell 1.36% to close at 22,960.63. Japan Nikkei 225 Stock Average sank 0.9% to 9,558.30.

The month-on-month figure in Mar rose from a revised 1.9% in the previous month and topped expectations. The nation's consumer sentiment also dived to a 2-year low of 33.1 in Apr.

Thousands of troops including 2,000 marines are involving in the week long exercise. Anti-submarine aircraft and dozens of jet fighters, 15 navy ships and 21 armored landing vehicles were also mobilized.
