1. 中國4月外來直接投資升15.2%
國家商務部表示,上月的外來直接投資額為85億美元。但有關按年升幅低於3月份的32.9%。中國去年共吸引1,057億美元投資。
2. 馬來西亞燃料補貼達67億美元
政府估計,今年單是為汽油、柴油及液化氣產品的補貼額,已達58.5億美元,遠高於去年的26億美元。

1. China Apr FDI Gains 15.2% on Year
Foreign direct investment in China rose to US$8.5 billion. It was down from a 32.9% advance in Mar. The country attracted US$105.7 billion investment in 2010.
2. Malaysia Fuel Subsidies to Cost US$6.7B
Petroleum products including gasoline, diesel and liquefied petroleum gas used for cooking will cost about US$5.85 billion, up from US$2.6 billion in 2010.
3. Japan Expects Core Inflation to Rise 0.7% in FY11, 12
Bank of Japan said it would do its utmost to beat deflation. It also said the country's economy was in a very severe state due to damage from the March earthquake, leaving 25,000 dead or missing and crippling a nuclear plant.
4. CIC to Move Management to Canada for Resource Bids
China Investment Corp., the nation's sovereign wealth fund, plans to relocate Managing Director Winston Ma to Canada. The firm involved a US$1.5 billion investment in Teck Resources in July 2009.

6. Hyundai Motor to Invest US$173M to Boost US Production
The top S Korean automaker will expand its Alabama engine plant to create 214 new jobs. The new production line is expected to begin in Mar 2012 with an annual capacity of 330,000 vehicles.
7. Sumitomo Rubber to Spend US$346M on New Plant
The Japanese firm will build a tire plant in Brazil to meet growing demand in the country. The plant is scheduled to start production by October 2013 and will have a capacity of 15,000 tires per day.
8. HK Stocks Fall on Greece Debt Concern
The Hang Seng Index fell 0.3% to 22,901.08, its lowest close since March 23, as Greece seeking more bailout funds and disappointing economic data in the U.S. raised concerns.
9. China Downplays UN Report on N Korea Missile Export
The report said N Korea was exporting missiles and technology in violation of United Nations sanctions. Beijing responded that the reported by a 7-member panel was not an official Security Council report.
10. Myanmar Frees 17,000 Prisoners
The junta still leaves more than 2,000 political prisoners languishing behind bars. The vast majority are expected to be common criminals.
