1. China Stocks Slid to the Lowest in 4 Months
The Shanghai Composite Index dropped 46.94 to close at 2,703.32 on speculation that the central bank will keep tightening monetary policy even the global recovery falters.
 
2. S Korea Household Bank Loans Gain the Most in 6 Months 
The country's lending to households jumped US$3B in May to a record US$407B. It was the 4th straight month that loans rose to all-time high.
 
3. TEPCO's Shares Plunge 20% to New Low
Shares of the embattled Tokyo Electric Power fell 4% to US$2.395, after hitting a new intraday low of US$1.846 on uncertainty over govt plans to ensure the company can meet compensation bills after earthquake. 
 
4. Malaysia Output Falls 2.2% on Year
The increase of industrial production in Apr was worse than expected, compared with a revised 2.9% gain in Mar. Manufacturing sales gained 5.5% in Apr from a year earlier.
 
5. China's May Passenger-car Sales Falls for 1st Time in 2 Years
The country sold 1.04M vehicles in May, 0.1% less from a year earlier. Separately, India posted car sales in May to grow 7%. The annual increase was the slowest pace since May 2009. 
 
6. Japan's Q1 GDP Revised to Annualized 3.5% Contraction
The initial reading of the GDP contraction was 3.7%. For quarter-on-quarter basis, the contraction remained unchanged at 0.9% for the Jan-Mar period.
 
7. Noble to Offer US$96M for Territory Resource
The HK-based commodity trader offered 50 cent for each share of Australia iron ore miner, which was 8.7% higher than Exxaro's offer. It already owned 32% stake of Territory.
 
8. Indonesia Remains 6.75% Rate Unchanged
The central bank kept its benchmark rate for the 4th time in a row as a strengthening currency helped contain inflation. Indonesia's rupiah rose to a 7-year high in the previous day.
