1. China's May Imports Gain 28.4% on Year
The increase was faster than 21.8% gain in Apr and better than expected. Export growth eased to 19.4% from April's 29.9%. Trade surplus widen to US$13B, compared with US$11.4B in Apr. 
 
2. Toyota Forecasts FY Net to Fall 31%
Japanese top carmaker expected to post a net profit of US$3.5B this FY, compared with US$5.1B profit in FY11. Full year sales were forecasted at US$232.2B, down from US$237.1B.
 
3. S Korea Raises Interest Rate to 3.25%
The central bank increased the key interest rate by a quarter points to tackle inflation pressure. The bank has now increased the borrowing costs by a combined 1.25 percentage points in 5 steps since last July.
 
4. Samsonite IPO to Raise US$1.25B
The luggage maker sold shares at US$1.86 each, which was the lower end of the revised price range. The IPO amount was US$250M, less than the maximum originally sought.
 
5. India Output Rises 6.3% on Year
The Apr industrial production was down from 8.8% in Mar. Manufacturing climbed 6.9% in April from a year earlier after a 10.4% gain in March. Mining output increased 2.2% and electricity rose 6.4%.
 
6. Morgan Stanley Forms China JV with US$157.5M Capital
The US brokerage giant announced the cooperation with Huaxin Securities and will own one-third stake in the venture. Morgan Stanley sold its 34.3% stake in CICC for a pre-tax gain of US$700M.
 
7. Japan's Producer Price Climbs for 8th Month
Prices companies pay for energy and unfinished goods jumped 2.2% in May from a year earlier, down from 2.5% gain in Apr. The central bank predicted in April the country's producer prices will rise 2.2% in FY12.
 
8. Philippines Apr Exports Increase 19.1% on Year
The shipment abroad of the nation rose to US$4.3B, after soaring 4.1% in Mar. Electronics sales fell 2.1% to US$2.15B in Apr from a year earlier.
 
9. Pakistan Bus Crash Kills 12 Children
The police said the bus driver had been speeding when he lost control of the vehicle, which had a total of 18 people on board. 12 children were dead and 2 others wounded.
 
10. China Accuses Vietnam in Escalating Sea Tensions
Beijing issued the condemnation of Vietnam gravely violating its sovereignty and endangering Chinese sailors. But Hanoi accused China of harassing a ship doing seismic surveys in the South China Sea.
