1. Itochu to buy Columbia Coal Mine Stake
Japan's 4th largest trading house will acquire 20% stake of the mine owned by Drummond. The mine produced 25M tons a year and Itochu had the right to sell its share of output.
 
2. HSBC, Citigroup to Underwrite China Corporate Debt
Chinese agency approved 2 banks' application, making them the first foreign banks to get the licence. The outstanding issuance of short-term bills and medium-term notes totaled US$353B as of end-May.
 
3. Philippine Budget Carrier to Buy US$3.8B Jets
Cebu Air plans to purchase 37 new Airbus planes, which included 30 A321s and 7 A320s. The carrier currently owned 25 Airbus and 8 ATR 72-500 aircrafts. 
 
4. Samsonite Slumps in HK Debut
Italian luggage maker dropped as low as 10.6% from its offer price US$1.86 each and closed at US$1.71. The firm raised US$1.25B by selling 671M shares and posted moderately oversubscribed. 
 
5. S Korea Increases Overseas Crude, Gas Output Target for 2012
The country expected its production may jump to 640,000 barrels a day of oil equivalent by 2012, or about 20% of its consumption, from 340,000 barrels a day last year. It previously estimated to produce 18% of the need next year.
 
6. China Leading Indicator Shows More Moderate Growth
The preliminary reading jumped 0.2% to 154.5 in Apr. Revised figure showed 0.9% gain in Mar and 0.1% decrease in Apr. The gauge indicated more moderate economic growth in coming months.
 
7. Mitsubishi Aircraft Wins 3rd MRJ Orders
Japanese planemaker said ANI ordered 5 planes and made its backlog for MRJs to 70. It didn't give financial terms for the deal. It expects to sell about 1,000 MRJs over next two decades.
 
8. India Raises Rate for 10th Time in 16 Months
The central bank increased the repurchase rate to 7.5% from 7.25%, the same as expected by the market. The country wanted higher interest rate to curb inflation which was 9.06% last month.
 
9. China Closes Tibet to Foreigners until July 26
The closure was received in June 1 and cited last month's 60th anniversary of the communist rule over Tibet as the cause, but it seems an apparent move for the 90th anniversary of CCP. 
 
10. Hacker Attack Malaysia Govt Websites
51 govt websites of the country were targeted, causing disruptions to at least 41 of them, following a threat by the anonymous activist group which accused Malaysia of censoring the Internet.
