1. PetroChina's US$5.4B Deal with Encana Falls Short
Canada natural gas producer ended talk with PetroChina about the investment in a shale gas project and pipeline construction. The project will have a daily production of 255M cubic meter.
 
2. Asian Stocks Jump on 2nd Day
The MSCI Asia Pacific Index gained 0.9 %, as Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou won a parliamentary confidence vote. Japan Nikkei 225 Stock Average climbed 1.8%. 
 
3. Three Japan Firms to Spend US$1.5B in China
Mitsubishi, Itoham Foods, Yonekyu and Cofco will form joint venture to expand in China's meat industry by 2017. It plans to acquire 33% of a Cofco meat subsidiary by July 2011. 
 
4. China Expects Inflation to Rise in June
The govt said the inflation should rise again this month after flooding damaged crops and pushed up food costs. The country's consumer price jumped 5.5% in May, hitting 34-month high.
 
5. Taiwan May Jobless Rate Climbs to 4.41%
The unemployment rate was up from 4.35% in Apr and higher than expected. It is the first advance since August 2009.

Army special force attacked an Abu Sayyaf jungle encampment and captured 2 militants believed to be holding 3 Filipino hostages seized by the al-Qaida-linked group. 
 
10. China Urges US to Stay Away of Sea Dispute
Beijing said U.S. involvement may make the situation in South China Sea worse. Tensions in the waters have risen in past month on concerns as 6 countries had disputes in the region.
