1. China Q2 Economy Expands 9.5% on Year
The growth, beating earlier forecast, was the slowest pace since Q3 of 2009. Final consumption contributed 4.6 percentage point to the first half growth, while exports subtracted slightly.

3. Toyota to Privatize Two Auto Units

4. Bank of Thailand Increases Rate to 3.25%
The central bank raised benchmark rate by a quarter of a percentage point, marking the 6th monthly hike in a row. The country has raised the borrowing cost 8 times last year.
5. BYD First Half Profit Plunges 95%
The Chinese carmaker said its profit would be between US$18.7M and US$56.2M in Jan-Jun period, which was 85% to 95% lower than a year earlier. Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway owns a 9.9% stake in BYD.
6. S Korea Unemployment Rate Stands at 3.3%
The seasonally adjusted rate in June was unchanged from May and slightly below forecast. The total number of people with jobs was 24.8 million, up 472,000 on year and 355,000 on month.
7. Mitsui Plans to Make Offer for Portek
The Japanese conglomerate will buy the Singapore terminal operator at US$1.14 per share for a total consideration of US$180M. The offer exceeded the US$0.98 bid by the Phillipines' International Container Terminal.
8. Airports of Thailand Post 34% Jump on Passenger Volume
Passenger numbers at its 6 airports last month rose to 4.84M from 3.62M in the same month a year earlier. Its share price climbed to an 8-month high.
9. Two Trucks Hit Wedding Tent, Kills 16 in Indonesia
The accident happened just before midnight when a truck hit a minibus and a fuel truck coming from the opposite direction. Both trucks plowed into the roadside party tent, killing 16 and injuring 13.
