Japan's 2nd largest property developer ties up with CapitaLand and CapitaCommercial Trust to redevelop a downtown site into a 40-storey office building with floor area of 887,000 square foot.
 
2. S Korea Keeps Interest Rate Unchanged
The central bank held the benchmark rate at 3.25% for its July meeting. It has increased the rate 5 times since July of last year to curb inflation, which has exceeded 4% for 6 straight months..  
 
3. China Orders ConocoPhillips to Halt Operation for Bohai Oil Fields
The State Oceanic Administration said it wanted the company to completely eliminate any risks of leaks after spills were found from platforms B and C of the Penglai 19-3 oilfield in the Bohai Bay.
 
4. Singapore Economy Expands 0.5% on Year
The government said the economy in the Apr to June period contracted a seasonally adjusted, annualized 7.8% from the previous quarter. Industrial production fell 5.5% while service grew 3.3%.
 
5. Foreign Visitors to Japan Drop 36% in June
The country attracted 433,100 visitors last month, as the Fukushima nuclear crisis deterred visits. Flights and cruises to Japan both reduced following the Mar 11 quake and tsunami.
 
6. India Inflation Rises to 9.44%
The June wholesale-price index was up from 9.06% in May. The central bank may increase benchmark rate to curb inflation. Industrial output gained 5.6% in May from a year earlier.
 
7. Thailand Consumer Confidence Jumps in June
The index climbed to 72.3 from 71.1 in the previous month. The July confidence index rose to 74.1 in a preliminary survey. The advance was partly helped by the election campaigns.
 
8. KCC Sells 17% Stake in Mando
The S Korean construction material supplier said it will sell its 3.1 million shares in the car parts maker for US$602 million in block sales. KCC is the largest shareholder of Mando.

A government official said Chinese soldiers allegedly beat a Vietnamese fisherman and threatened other crew members before driving them out of waters near the disputed South China Sea islands.
