1. Nissan, China Partner Plan US$8B Investment
Japan's 2nd biggest carmaker and China's Dongfeng will jointly build a new plant and launch 30 vehicles in China. Nissan hopes to boost the annual sales in the country to 2.3 million units by 2015, up from 1.3 million last year.
 
2. Singapore Industrial Output Jumps 10.5%
The June year-on-year gain was compared with a revised 16.2% decrease in the previous month and better than expected. On a seasonally adjusted basis, it rose 1.6% from May.
 
3. CLP to Buy 17% Stake in Nuclear Power Plant for US$745M
Hong Kong's largest electricity provider will purchase the plant located in Guangdong province. Total investment of the 6,000-megawatt plant is expected to be US$10.8 billion and start operation in 2013.
 
4. India Raises Rates by 50 Basis Points
The increase was higher than expected and the 11th advance since Mar 2010, signaling the inflation pressure of the nation. The repo rate jumped to 8% and the reverse repo rate was also increased to 7%.
 
5. CIC's Global Investment Return 11.7% Last Year
The state-owned sovereign fund posted a net income of US$51.6 billion in 2010 and total assets climbed 23% to US$409.6 billion. The fund may get US$50 billion as a first batch of new capital this year.

The shipment was the first time since the communist country shelled a frontline island last year. It will send some 2,500 tonnes of flour including Tuesday's shipment by the end of August.
