1. Japan Core Machinery Orders Gain 7.7% in June
The annual increased was better than expected, compared to a 3.0% gain in May. Japan also forecast the orders to rise just 0.9% during the July-Sep quarter, up from 2.5% in last quarter.
2. Singtel Quarterly Profit Drops 3% on Year
Net income of Singapore's telecom giant was US$745 million in the 3 months ended June 30 and worse than expected. Operating revenue for the quarter gained 7.4% to US$3.75 billion.
