1. Poor US Job Data Shakes Asian Markets
The shockwaves from the US Labor Department report on Friday have rippled around the world. Japan's  Nikkei 225 index fell 1.9%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng was 3% lower while S Korea's Kospi Composite Index tumbled 4.4%.  
 
2. Honda Recalls Nearly 1 Million Cars
The Japanese carmaker will recall 960,000 Fit and other models globally to repair defects including malfunctioning power window switches. No accidents have been reported due to the defects.
 
3. China Aug Service Falls to Record Low
The Purchasing Managers' index dropped to 50.6 from 53.5 in July, the lowest since the series began in Nov 2005, signaling the economy has slowed after the government raised interest rate.
 
4. SK Engineering Wins US$662M Order
The South Korea construction giant won the order to build a power plant in Panama. The plant will consist of two coal-fired power generating units.

Lawrence Ho, the son of gaming mogul Stanley Ho, may join with Australian billionaire James Parker to invest the fund on a casino project. The Philippine government's move to boost its gaming industry may help meet its goal of tourist arrivals to 6 million by 2016.  
 
6. Indonesia Inflation Accelerates for 1st Time since Jan
The consumer prices climbed 4.79% in Aug. That compared with an inflation rate of 4.61% in July. The index rose 0.93% from the previous month.
 
7. CononoPhilips Defends Handling of China Oil Spill
The US oil giant committed to conduct all business activities after it was ordered by the government to close the Penglai 19-3 oil field due to an oil spill. The spill on June 4 released about 700 barrels of oil into Bohai Bay.
 
8. India Service PMI Slows in Aug
The seasonally adjusted HSBC Purchasing Managers' Index was at 53.8, down from 58.2 in July. The data follows Friday's manufacturing PMI data, which dropped to a 29-month low.
 
9. Japan Typhoon Kills 26 
Typhoon Talas lashed coastal areas over the weekend, leading to 26 dead, 52 missing, and thousands stranded. The typhoon was believed to be the worst to hit Japan since 2004.
 
10. Indian Lawmaker Arrested over Mining Scandal
The top investigating agency said it had arrested a state lawmaker and former minister indicted in a multibillion-dollar scam involving the granting of illegal mining contracts.
