The Japanese automaker had sold 11,000 Leafs globally as of mid-July, after launching in December. It plans to introduce 7 additional electric models by fiscal 2016 and is targeting sales of 1.5 million electric vehicles over the next 6 years.
2. Thailand Approves US$11.6B 2012 Deficit
The nation's Cabinet approved the government's budget deficit target for the fiscal year starting Oct. 1. The budget is based on economic growth of 4.5% to 5.5% and inflation of between 3% and 4%.

Flash floods and landslides in Thailand have submerged 48 of the country's 77 provinces in the last two months. Thousands of hectares of farm land have been damaged in Vietnam.
10. Russia, N Korea "to Hold Defence Drill"
