厦门卫视于2005年2月1日正式开播，是大陆地区第一个以闽南方言为主的卫星频道。卫视以娱乐、文化、艺术和新闻资讯为主要内容，以传递两岸资讯，推动两岸交流，弘扬闽南文化，传播华夏文明为宗旨。

Xiamen Star
TV，launched officially on February 1^st
2005, is the first satellite TV channel on the mainland of Chinaproviding every day a
wide range of broadcast programmes principally in the Minnan dialect, covering
entertainment, culture and the arts, and news programmes, with the aim of
promoting the Minnan culture and exchanges between the two sides of the Taiwan
Strait and disseminating cross-straits information and Chinese culture to the
world.

厦门卫视全天24小时播出，全天候滚动字幕新闻，每天首播6小时自制节目，13个自办栏目，90％闽南话节目，多种闽南话节目形态。节目内容和节目形式主要根据泛闽南语地区受众的收视习惯和特点。

Xiamen
Star TV is on air for a total of 24 hours per day, broadcast caption news in
circle all the day, of which 6 hours, or thirteen programmes are produced
in-house, and ninety percents is in Minnan dialect, many different kinds of
programmes in Minnan dialect. The content and form is based on audience’s habituation
of television viewing and characteristic in the Minnan dialect area of south
China.

厦门卫视开播四年多来，以丰富的内容、灵活的形式、亲切的乡音、亲和的播报风格赢得了社会各界的认同和广泛关注。根据央视—索福瑞公司提供的数据显示，厦门卫视开播后取得较好的收视成绩，位列厦门地区40个频道前茅，2008年开春，连续5周创下厦门地区频道排名第1的好成绩。

Xiamen
Star TV was launched for more than four years, and has won community
recognition and attention by ample content, flexible form, friendly accentand
style of broadcasting. According to the relevant data that CCTV - Sofres company
provides, Xiamen Star TV has registered good ratings since its establishment, topping
the total 40 channels in Xiamen. In the spring of 2008, it had ranked first for five consecutive weeks.
